GF ION Onboard – control directly in the tool
With the GF ION Onboard series, syskomp gehmeyr sets a new benchmark in industrial screwdriving technology: for the first time, controller, data storage and scanner are fully integrated in the screwdriver. No external control unit, no obstructive cables – the screwdriver works autonomously at the point of work and integrates seamlessly into your existing infrastructure via real-time Wi-Fi (2.4–5.8 GHz). Programs are enabled directly on the device using the integrated scanner, and screwdriving results are transmitted in real time and fully documented. The USB-C keep-alive connection ensures a permanent network connection and parameterisation even while the battery is being changed. Maximum freedom – with the process reliability of a stationary solution.
GF ION EXACT & Angle EXACT 18V: networked & quality-assured
The GF ION EXACT series brings full Wi-Fi connectivity directly into the screwdriver: every screw joint is documented in real time, transmitted to MES and ERP systems and checked for errors such as stripped screws or missing joints. Whether with the proprietary EXAConnecT WLAN 3.0, the open Open Protocol for direct system integration or via Bluetooth – all models are available with three connection types. When the battery is changed, the connection is maintained for up to 25 seconds, so ongoing processes continue without any loss of data. In combination with the GF ION EXAConnecT WLAN 3.0 controller, the result is a fully networked, documented screwdriving system for the highest quality requirements.
GF-ION-EXAConnecT WLAN 3.0: the intelligent control unit
The GF-ION-EXAConnecT WLAN 3.0 is the heart of a fully networked screwdriving system: the control unit connects up to four GF ION EXACT 18V screwdrivers simultaneously and transmits commands directly to the tools – screwdriving results are stored in real time and fully documented. Interfaces to barcode scanners, process computers and PLC systems allow it to integrate seamlessly into existing production environments. Stripped screws, rehits and missing screws are detected automatically, and operators receive active support. The compact metal housing (341 × 281 × 89 mm, IP 40) with a 10.4" touchscreen can be flexibly mounted in the work area using a VESA bracket.
EXACT & Angle EXACT 18V: power and precision for every shift
The EXACT ION series is the proven basis for reproducible, process-reliable series screwdriving in continuous industrial use. The brushless EC motor achieves 30 % higher energy efficiency than conventional drives and is designed for up to 1 million screwdriving operations – with minimal maintenance. Weighing just 1.3 kg, the EXACT ION is one of the lightest industrial screwdrivers in its class, enabling fatigue-free working even during long shifts. Six individually configurable screwdriving stages (via USB), colour ring identification and a precise shut-off clutch ensure maximum process reliability and easy assignment of multiple tools at the workstation.
EXACT & Angle EXACT 12V: compact for confined spaces
The EXACT 12V is the most compact industrial screwdriver in the syskomp gehmeyr portfolio: with a head length of just 154 mm and a weight of 0.8 kg including the 3.0 Ah battery, it is significantly smaller and lighter than comparable 18V solutions – without compromising on precision. This makes it the first choice for overhead work, confined installation spaces and long series screwdriving runs in which fatigue is a factor. Six configurable screwdriving stages, an LED light ring and the backwards-compatible 12V battery platform (compatible since 2005) make the series a future-proof investment for flexible, lean assembly stations.
Bosch D-Tools 18V: industrial-grade & easy to use
The Bosch D-Tools 18V are specifically designed for industrial assembly tasks in which strict screw joint classes A, B or C are not required – but reliability, consistency and durability are crucial. With an accuracy of ±15 % and a service life up to 2–5 times longer than conventional tools, they are ideal for mechanical engineering, household appliance manufacturing, the two-wheeler industry and non-critical screw joints in vehicle construction. Thanks to NFC connectivity, tools can be centrally identified, configured and managed – torque specifications, authorisations and maintenance notes are documented digitally for transparent, efficient assembly processes.
NFC connectivity: system intelligence in three levels
The NFC connectivity of the Bosch D-Tools turns every screwdriver into a networked data point in your production: tools are detected automatically, programs are loaded and maintenance due dates are reported proactively – without manual configuration on the device. The SmartCore / SmartElite / SmartExact system offers three scalable expansion levels that are precisely matched to your process requirements: from simplified tool management with limited data recording and unlimited data visualisation and analysis through to full MES integration with ISN and NFC connection. Frequently asked questions – industrial tools
The GF ION EXACT is the networked premium line with Wi-Fi, Open Protocol and Bluetooth: every screw joint is documented in real time, transmitted to MES and ERP systems and checked for errors such as stripped screws. The EXACT ION is the proven standalone variant without network connection – screwdriving stages are configured via USB, and assignment at the workstation is made using a colour ring. Both series share the same platform (18V, brushless EC motor, up to 1 million screwdriving operations) and the same weight of 1.3 kg.
In the GF ION Onboard series, controller, data storage and scanner are fully integrated in the screwdriver – an external control unit such as the EXAConnecT is no longer needed at all. This enables maximum flexibility at the point of work without stationary infrastructure. The classic GF ION EXACT series, by contrast, works with the separate EXAConnecT WLAN 3.0 control unit, which manages up to 4 screwdrivers simultaneously and is better suited to fixed, fully networked assembly lines.
Three solutions are available for confined installation spaces: the WK variants (EXACT WK / GF ION EXACT WK / Onboard EXACT WK) have a flange for separately available angle heads and allow lateral access. The Angle EXACT variants are designed as dedicated angle screwdrivers – without external angle heads. For particularly tight spaces, the compact EXACT 12V with a head length of only 154 mm and a weight of 0.8 kg including battery is also recommended.
Open Protocol is a manufacturer-independent communication standard for screwdriving systems that allows the screwdriver to be connected directly to MES or ERP systems – without the proprietary EXAConnecT control unit as an intermediary. Screwdriving results, program changes and status messages are exchanged bidirectionally in real time. This is particularly relevant for production environments in which a central MES already exists and open, vendor-neutral integration is required.
No – 12V and 18V batteries are not compatible with each other. Within the 12V platform, however, there has been backwards compatibility since 2005: newer 12V batteries (e.g. 3.0 Ah) also work in older 12V devices from the same ecosystem. For 18V devices (EXACT ION, GF ION EXACT, GF ION Onboard), the batteries are purchased separately and are not included in the scope of delivery.
The Bosch D-Tools 18V are the right choice when strict screw joint classes A, B or C are not required, but durability and simple NFC-based tool management are the priority – typical for mechanical engineering, household appliance manufacturing or the two-wheeler industry. The EXACT ION series, on the other hand, is designed for series screwdriving subject to documentation requirements, with a precise shut-off clutch and reproducible torques. Both series can be extended with NFC connectivity (SmartCore / SmartElite / SmartExact) if required.
The GF-ION-EXAConnecT WLAN 3.0 connects up to 4 GF ION EXACT 18V screwdrivers simultaneously and transmits commands directly to the tools. Screwdriving results are stored in real time, and stripped screws, rehits and missing screws are detected automatically. Via an optional IO card (9 inputs / 21 outputs), the unit can be connected directly to PLC systems. The compact metal housing (341 × 281 × 89 mm, IP 40) with a 10.4" touchscreen can be flexibly mounted in the work area using a VESA bracket.
The Keep-Alive Adaption Gen-2 supplies the GF ION Onboard screwdriver with continuous power via USB-C – regardless of the battery's state of charge. This enables a permanent network connection, parameterisation and localisation of the tool even while the battery is being changed. Particularly in clocked assembly lines with frequent battery changes, this solution prevents connection interruptions and ensures that the screwdriver is ready for use and visible on the network at all times.
